| Children's Case Mangement & Community Support Services |
Parents of children with special needs often need help to deal with the specific challenges inherent in serious emotional disturbances. Children's mental health case managers work with families to understand their needs and strengths and develop a plan to address specific deficits in the child's functioning based on diagnostic and functional assessments. Intervents could include crisis plan development and medication management, referral for chemical abuse/dependency assessment, employment support, individual therapy and family therapy. Case managers help to manage schedules and appointments, and can provide transportation. They work to develop a comprehensive treatment pacakge designed to keep the family together. They coordinate services with the agencies and providers involved in the implementation of the child's treatment plan. Community Support programming focuses on education and prevention services such as skills training in social interactions, leisure activities, and anger management.
