The Rice County Crisis Nursery Program provides voluntary crisis care to children with no fees or eligibility requirements for the service. The population served is Rice County families with children aged 0-12 years old who have a crisis and would be abused or neglected without intervention. The children are placed in licensed daycare or foster care homes for a period not to exceed 72 consecutive hours in a foster home or 10 consecutive days in a daycare home. This reduces family stress levels, and allows staff to intervene in families at high risk of harming their children by providing parent support and education, referrals to community resources, and crisis counseling. |
