CEA offers prenatal education classes and information on care of the infant. Classes are 8 weeks long. Refresher classes are also offered. Topics covered include: Pre-term labor, Breathing & Relaxing techniques, Stages of labor, Comfort measures, LDRP tour, Hospital tour, Vaginal & Cesarean deliveries, Medications, Inductin and Aumentation, Epidurals, Doctor & Nurse lecture, Fetal heart monitor demo, Post-partum recovery, Breast feeding, Bottle feeding, Car-seat safety & use, Immunizations, Brain development, ECFE programming and more.

Communities Served: Classes are open to anyone regardless of age and/or delivery location

Age Range of Clients Served: 0-2, Middle School, High School, Adults

Hours: Wednesday evening 7 - 9 pm, at District One Hospital, pre-registration is required, call 507-334-8701

Fees: $55 for 8 week class and $30 for refresher classes

Insurance: No, however we will complete the paperwork that parents can submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement

Eligibility Information: All

Capacity to Accommodate Clients with Limited Financial Resources: We ask that clients contact us early in their pregnancy so that they can submit payment from M.A. before class start, We have never turned anyone away because of lack of funding

Capacity to Accommodate Clients who Speak Languages other than English: Classes are in English only. We do have interpreters for the deaf. Spanish speaking mothers will often take the class with a friend who speaks English and can translate or are willing to try to work through the language problem

Services Offered: Doula Service (Labor Coaches offered free of charge)

Accessible to: Classes are open to anyone with any type of impairment
