Northfield HCI - Mayor's Youth Task Force on Youth Alcohol & Drug Use

Mayor's Task Force on Youth Alcohol & Drug Use

The Mayor's Task Force on Youth Alcohol & Drug Use was formed in 2006 at the initiative of Northfield Mayor Lee Lansing. The Task Force seeks to raise community awareness about local youth substance use and to make recommendations for community interventions to reduce youth use.

As the mission of the Mayor's Task Force on Youth and Alcohol & Drug Use indicates, members are "advocates for and with youth, committed to creating a community where our youth can lead healthy lives free of alcohol and drug use."

The board consists of local residents, appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.

Applications for the Mayor's Task Force on Youth Alcohol & Drug Use are available by contacting the City of Northfield City Clerk at City Hall, 801 Washington Street or via the City Website.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month; special meetings are occasionally called. Meetings are held from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Northfield Community Resource Center (NCRC), 1651 Jefferson Parkway.

The Northfield Mayor's Task Force on Youth Alcohol & Drug Use is working to provide additional education and resources to the community about the misuse of prescription drugs. Another Way to Get Involved!
In response to inquires on the recent news coverage directed to the use of  heroin by young people in Northfield, the Mayor's Task Force on Youth Alcohol and Drug Use has compiled a list of ways that anyone can support Northfield's youth. Ideas range from mentoring to volunteering to having a conversation with a young person. This list is just a start and hopefully it will be the springboard to many other opportunities for interested community members. To view the ideas, click HERE.
