Familias En Accion is a grassroots group of Northfield educators and community members who joined together four years ago with the shared vision that our Latino children could be more successful in our schools. We were troubled by the high dropout rates of these children and reports that Latino children and families did not always feel welcomed or supported in schools. The mission of Familias En Accion is “to promote a learning environment for Latino students in Northfield schools that encourages personal and academic successes.”

We have begun to work towards our mission by hosting events to bring families into the schools, providing sessions on helping their children, organizing a Spanish PTO, holding postsecondary options fairs, and sponsoring field trips to nearby colleges.
