Recovery School of Southern Minnesota is a Charter school for chemically dependent students in 9-12th grades interested in recovery based education. Centrally located in Owatonna, MN, students from a variety of areas (including Northfield, Mankato, Albert Lea, Rochester and Owatonna) attend a 7-period school day, which involves core academics, restorative justice practices, sober support groups and a close knit environment to continue focusing on a recovery program. Participation in a chemical dependency treatment program at some point in the student's life, along with some knowledge of the AA/NA 12 step and other support groups, are encouraged. We are hands on learning with emphasis on physical recreation and art therapy.

Communities Served: Rice, Steele, Blue Earth, Faribault, Freeborn, Olmsted, Mower, Dodge Counties

Age Range of Clients Served: 9-12th grades with the potential to grow into 7-12th grades

Hours: 9:00 am - 3 pm

Fees: State funded - no cost to student to attend

Eligibility Information: Intake interviews are completed by the Director of RSSM and the CD Counselor to discuss the expectations of attending.

Capacity to Accommodate Clients with Limited Financial Resources: RSSM is a Charter School licensed by the Department of Education in the State of Minnesota. There is no cost to the student to attend RSSM. A lunch program is provided.

Capacity to Accommodate Clients who Speak Languages other than English: Translation for all languages other than English will be contracted from outside agencies.
